Box Score The Panther women's hockey team scored twice in the third period for a 2-1 NESCAC win at Colby (5-14-3, 3-11-1) on Friday night. With the victory, the seventh-ranked Panthers (14-4-3, 10-0-3) have secured home ice for a NESCAC Quarterfinal game on February 27. The two teams will go at it again on Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. faceoff.
After a scoreless first period in which Panther netminder Julia Neuburger made 16 saves, the hosts went on top 1-0 at the 11:58 mark of the second. Katie McLaughlin scored her ninth of the season as Colby led 1-0 after two.
Middlebury fought back with both of its goals in the third period coming less than five minutes apart. Maddie Winslow netted her team-leading 12th of the season at the 13:08 mark to even the score at 1-1. Janka Hlinka scored the game-winner 16:03 into the session for her second tally of the year.
Colby held a 30-23 shots advantage in the game with Neuburger making 29 stops to earn the win. Angelica Crites had 10 of her 21 saves in the second period for the Mules.
