The Panther swimming and diving teams got back on the winning track with home dual meet wins Saturday afternoon over Union. The men eased past the visiting Dutchmen by a 150-88 score, while the women cruised over the Dutchwomen, 140-99. Middlebury returns to action next Saturday when it travels to Williams for a 1:00 p.m. dual meet with the Ephs.
The men jumped out to an early lead as the 400 medley relay team of Brendan Leech, Stephan Koenigsberger, Bryan Cheuk and Paul Lagasse were victorious by nearly five seconds in 3:35.31.
Individually, Michael McGean tallied a pair of event wins in the pool for the Panthers. He won the 500 free (4:52.50) and the 1000 free (10:01.57). Other event titles came from Koenigsberger in the 50 free (22.34), Andrew Rosenthal in the 200 fly (2:00.71) Lagasse during the 100 free (49.06) and Leech in the 200 back (2:00.74).
The 400 free relay team of Cheuk, Jack McLaughlin, Leech and Lagasse capped off the meet with a winning mark of 3:16.93.
On the diving boards, Will Greene dove to third-place point efforts in the 1-meter (232.13) and 3-meter (245.70) events, respectively.
During the women's competition, the 400 medley relay quartet of Sarah Bartholomae, Jennifer Koide, Megan Griffin and Kristin Karpowicz were victorious with a time of 4:07.79.
Grace Stimson picked up a pair of event victories as an individual. She stopped the clock first in the 400 individual medley in a time of 4:47.58, also posting the best time in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.79).
Other triumphs in the pool came from Angela Riggins in the 1000 free (11:17.00), Caitlin Carroll during the 200 fly (2:16.19) and Lucy Scott in the 500 free (5:20.30).
Elissa DeNunzio finished second during both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with 207.83 and 239.40 points, respectively.
