The Middlebury men's golf team ended its season in a 24th-place tie among 41 teams at the 2015 NCAA Championships. The top 15 teams make the cut and continue on to 18-hole rounds on Thursday and Friday. The Panthers played the East Course on Tuesday, a 7,200-yard, par-72 challenge. The event is being played at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.
After tying for a team-best 73 on Monday, Eric Laorr led the squad on Tuesday with a four-over-par 76. Starting on the back nine, Laorr picked up a pair of birdies and came in with a 37. The front nine holes were not as kind as he bogeyed four holes with a birdie.
Fitz Bowen tied Laorr with a 73 on Monday, but was a stroke behind on Tuesday's round with a 77. He had eight bogeys on the day, offset by three birdies.
John Louie and Bennett Doherty were both next for Middlebury, each shooting a 79 on day two. Doherty had a birdie on the 18th hole and three bogeys, but a triple-bogey on the sixth hole proved costly. Louie birdied two of three holes on the front nine, but suffered three double-bogeys on the day.
Charlie Garcia rounded out the squad with an 86 on the final day. His round was up and down most of the day, earning three birdies but racking up six double-bogeys.
