Box Score Middlebury snapped Union's four-game winning streak with a 12-8 road victory on Tuesday afternoon. Trailing by a 5-3 score, the Panthers tallied seven-straight goals en route to the victory. Second-ranked Middlebury returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Bates on Kohn Field at 12:00 p.m.
After the Panthers jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 1:47 into the game, Union went on a 5-2 run over the following 18:23 to stake claim to a 5-3 lead. Natalie Sullivan found the back of the cage twice and Emily McGrail, Maggie Comiskey and Jackie Hagopian each scored once during the stretch.
Middlebury responded with seven-unanswered goals in the next 13:51 to hold a 10-5 lead with 25:59 left to play. Bridget Instrum scored twice during the decisive run, as did Mary O'Connell. The team's exchanged the final five goals of the game as the Panthers won their ninth-straight game.
Alli Sciarretta led Middlebury with three goals, while the team received two apiece from Instrum, O'Connell, Katie Ritter and Laurel Pascal. Pascal picked up seven draw controls, four ground balls and caused four turnovers, while Maggie Caputi picked up three ground balls. Madeleine Kinker made six saves in goal to earn the win.
Comiskey, Hagopian, McGrail and Sullivan each scored twice for Union. Kim Grinhaus made 11 saves between the pipes.
