For the fifth time in nine years, the Middlebury men's golf team has won the 2015 NESCAC Men's Golf Championship Qualifier. The seven-time NESCAC Champions will host the Championship from April 30-May 1 at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course on campus. The winner of the event advances to the 2016 NCAA Championship.
The Panthers, who held a 12-stroke lead after 18 holes, shot a solid 305 on day two to finish with a 605 for the tournament. Trinity shot the best score on day two with a 303 to finish with a 617. Amherst and Hamilton each shot a 628 to round out the four qualifying teams.
Middlebury rookie Scott Guidotti captured medalist honors at the event, following up a 74 on day one with a tournament-best 72 on Sunday. First-year golfer Reid Buzby was next with a 76 on day two for a two-day total of 151, finishing second overall. The Panthers' third finisher was also a rookie, as Philippe Morin carded a 78 for a total of 153, good for a sixth-place tie. Rodrigo Andrade had another solid day with a 79, finishing with a total of 157 to tie for 11th place. Rounding out the team was Bennett Doherty, who slipped a bit on day two with an 83 to tie for 17th place with a 159.
