Third-ranked Middlebury outshot Hamilton 20-2 on its way to an 8-1 win over the Continentals (9-7) in a NESCAC Quarterfinal contest on Kohn Field. The Panthers (15-1) advance to next weekend's semifinal round at Bowdoin, where they will meet Tufts at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The host school takes on Amherst at 11:00 a.m., with the winners meeting for the NESCAC title at noon on Sunday.

The game was scoreless for the first 14:11 before the Panthers scored three times in less than five minutes. Grace Jennings broke in all alone and scored from the right side to open the run. Pam Schulman scored the next two tallies, tapping in a cross from Audrey Quirk before converting a penalty stroke with a shot to the top left corner of the cage.

Leading 3-0, Jennings pounced on a rebound and scored to make it a 4-0 game at the 28:02 mark. Annie Leonard followed 2:01 later, converting a crossing pass from Schulman to give the Panthers a 5-0 lead at the break.

Quirk scored her first of the year at 41:08, scoring in transition with a feed from Jennings. Lauren Schweppe scored in similar fashion from Quirk, before Quirk capped a three-goal run (in a 4:23 span) by redirecting a pass from Schweppe at the 45:31 mark.

Casey Brown broke up the shutout for Hamilton, tapping in a crossing pass from Caroline Ames at the 61:23 mark.

Emily Miller was forced to make just one save in goal for the Panthers, while Mary Kalb stopped six Panther shots. The Panthers held an 11-1 lead in penalty corners.
