The Middlebury men's golf team holds a 12-stroke lead after one day of play at the 2015 NESCAC Qualifier hosted by Williams at the Taconic Golf Club. The Panthers fired a team score of 300 on the first 18 holes, 12 strokes ahead of second-place Hamilton. Trinity came in third with a 314, followed by Amherst (316) and Williams (323). The top four teams advance to the spring championship with the winner qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.
The Panthers were led by three rookies who turned in three of the best four scores on the day. Scott Guidotti led all golfers with a 74 for the afternoon, while Reid Buzby and Philippe Morin tied with Bates' Brad Rutkin with 75s. Bennett Doherty was tied for fifth with a 76, followed by a 78 from Rodrigo Andrade.
Action resumes on Sunday with the Panthers teeing off at 11:00 a.m.
