Emily Fluke recorded her 99th and 100th career points via a goal and an assist leading fourth-ranked Middlebury (12-2-3, 8-1-2) to a 2-0 NESCAC victory Friday evening over visiting Hamilton (7-7-3, 1-6-2) inside Kenyon Arena. The two teams return to action on Saturday with game two of the series at 3:00 p.m.

Following a scoreless first period that saw Middlebury hold a 10-8 advantage in shots and each team have one power play, Fluke tallied her 99th point on the eventual game-winner at 4:18. She laced a wrister from the right dot following a Hamilton turnover after a nifty pass from Victoria Laven across the ice.

A little over nine minutes later at 13:31, Fluke recorded her 100th career point on the power play. She drove into the crease and her initial shot was blocked, but Jessica Young continued to chip at the loose puck and lifted it over Hamilton goalie Samantha Walther for the goal. In the period, the Panthers outshot Hamilton by a 13-6 count.

Ahead by two, Middlebury's Katie Mandigo looked to put the game away on a breakaway shorthanded at the 10:00 mark, but her attempt found the midsection of Walther and was covered up.

Hamilton's best scoring chance came at the conclusion of a power play at 10:40. Mairead Carey rifled a wrister from the left dot that Middlebury goalie Annabelle Jones slid to her right and used her blocker to save. A rebounded puck popped out in front of her, but the Continentals were unable to put it into the net.

Following a timeout, the Continentals pulled Walther with a little less than two minutes remaining, but couldn't score on Jones and the Panther defense.

For the contest, Middlebury held a 29-24 advantage in shots. Jones tallied 24 saves for her 10th career shutout. Walther was credited with 27 stops for the Continentals. The game marked the 100th of her career for Middlebury's Hannah Bielawski.
