The Middlebury men's golf team has won the 2014 NESCAC Qualifier hosted by Hamilton at the Skenandoa Golf Club. The Panthers fought off a tough charge by the host school, winning the event with a 599 after a 302 on day two. Hamilton shot a 299 on day two to finish with a 600, followed by Trinity and Williams who tied for third, each shooting a 604. For the fourth time in eight years, the Panthers have earned the honor of hosting the 2015 NESCAC Golf Championship on April 25-26. Hamilton, Trinity and Williams will join Middlebury at the championship next April.
Fitz Bowen (72-75) and Eric Laorr (74-73) were steady once again on day two, with the duo finishing in a tie for second place with 148s. Charlie Garcia again shot a 76, tying for 11th place with a two-day total of 152. Just a stroke behind was John Louie, whose 153 (75-78) tied him for 15th place. Chris Atwood rounded out the Panther's squad by finishing in 17th place with a 154 (76-78).
Williams' Grant Raffel earned individual medalist honors with a 1-over-par 145. Raffel's 2-under 70 on Sunday was the best round of the weekend.
