Lauren Berestecky scored a career-high three goals, leading third-ranked Middlebury to a 9-0 road victory Sunday over Smith (1-3). After playing four games in eight days, the Panthers (4-0) have nearly a week off before welcoming NESCAC foe Bowdoin next Saturday for a noon start at Kohn Field.

All three of Berestecky's goals came as part of a six-tally outburst in the opening half. In the fourth minute, she scored on an assist from Alyssa DiMaio following a penalty corner. Just over two minutes later, Berestecky tacked on another with a helper from Annie Leonard. In the 17th minute, Pam Schulman put the visitors up 3-0 via an assist from Catherine Fowler, while DiMaio added an unassisted score just 1:05 later.  

The score remained that way until the 26th minute. Berestecky completed her first-half hat-trick via a helper from Hollis Perticone. Shannon Hutteman capped off the opening half with a goal in the 29th minute. 

Following the halftime break, Anna Kenyon and Jillian Green each recorded unassisted scores in the 40th and 53rd minutes, respectively. Petricone added her name to the goal-scoring column with a tally in the 54th minute.

Middlebury finished with a 33-4 shots advantage in the contest, while holding a 15-7 edge in penalty corners. Emily Knapp (66:49) and Evangeline Dunphy (3:11) both saw playing time in front of the net for the Panthers, as Knapp tallied four saves. Smith starter Nora Demick allowed eight goals and made 13 saves during 52:14 of action, while Cameo Tietje made three stops in 17:46 of action with a goal surrendered.
