Men's Golf Just Misses The Cut During NCAA Championship

The Middlebury men's golf team concluded its NCAA Championship with a 310 during day two on Wednesday for an overall score of 604 (294-310). With the top 15 teams advancing on to play two more rounds, the Panthers just missed the cut, completing their rounds just five strokes behind 15th-place University of Rochester (N.Y.), winding up 19th. During Tuesday's round, the Panthers worked their way around the Grandover Resort's East Course in Greensboro, North Carolina.

As a team, the Panthers began their respective rounds on the 10th hole. Following a two-under round of 70 on day one, Eric Laorr finished his championship with a 76 for a two-round total of 146, placing him in a tie for 19th as an individual.

Fitz Bowen backed up his opening-day 74 with another 74 on Wednesday. During his round, he collected 12 pars and a pair of birdies on holes six and eight, as his two-day total of 148 put him in a tie for 41st.

Charlie Garcia recorded a birdie on the par-3 12th hole as part of an 82 for a two-day total of 156, while John Louie was next with a 78 for a combined score of 158 over 36 holes. Louie labored during his first nine holes with a 43, but rebounded to birdie both par 3s on the front side for a 35. Rounding out the scoring with an 83 was Rob Donahoe to finish with a 159 (76-83), including eight pars and a birdie on the par-5 second hole.
