Men's Golf Leads after Day One At NESCAC Championship

Host Middlebury fired a 299 to hold an 11-shot lead after day one of the 2014 NESCAC Men's Golf Championship. Trinity came in with a 310, followed by Williams (311) and Amherst (332). The Championship event is taking place at the par 71 Ralph Myhre Golf Course on the campus of Middlebury College. Action resumes on Sunday morning with the final round of the tournament.

Both Rob Donahoe and Fitz Bowen fired one-over-par 72's on day one under cold and wet conditions. Charlie Garcia fired a 75, Max Alley shot an 80, while John Louie came in with an 84 to round out the day one leaders.

Donahoe and Bowen are both tied for first place after 18 holes, while Garcia joined Cody Semmelrock of Williams and William Burchill of Trinty with 75's, all tied for third place. Trinity's Nick Buenaventura came in with a 76 to sit alone in sixth place. Dylan Dethier (Williams) and Jeff Durkin (Trinity) each shot an 78 to tie for seventh, while Grant Raffel (Williams), James Line (Amherst) and Jack Abrahams (Williams) rounded out the top 11, all sitting in a ninth place tie with 79's.
