The Middlebury men's tennis team earned its third win in three days, extending its winning streak to five matches with an 8-1 win at Trinity (7-5, 3-2). The eighth-ranked Panthers (12-2, 4-0) return to action on Saturday when they host Bowdoin at 10:00 a.m.
Alex Johnston/Andrew Lebovitz (8-5) and Palmer Campbell/Brantner Jones (9-7) gave the team a 2-1 lead after doubles play.
The Panthers swept all six singles contests, five of them coming in straight sets. Johnston was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at #1, while Campbell took a 6-4, 7-5 victory in the second slot. Jones emerged with a 6-2, 6-0 win at #3, while Smolyar took three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-1) to defeat Musyoka Mbithi in the fourth spot. Earning a 6-4, 6-1 win at #5 was Courtney Mountifield, while Jackson Frons picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win in the sixth slot.
