The Middlebury men's golf team opened its spring with a second-place finish at the 12-team NYU Spring Invitational. Williams won the event with a 590, followed by Middlebury (591) and Rochester (606), After a 302 on day one, the Panthers shaved 13 strokes on their team score with a match-best 289 on day two. Action took place at the Forest Hills Field Club in Bloomfield, N.J.
John Louie fired a 69 on day two, finishing in a tie for third place with a 145 after an opening round 76. Sitting alone in fifth place was Charlie Garcia, who shot a 74 and 72 for a 146. Fitz Bowen tied for ninth (75-73-148), while Rob Donahoe tied for 22nd place overall (78-75-143). Rounding out the squad in a tie for 31st place was Eric Laorr (77-79-156).
