The Middlebury men's lacrosse team won its fifth-straight NESCAC contest with a 15-4 victory at Trinity (3-9, 1-7) on Saturday. The Panthers (6-6, 5-3) return to action on Tuesday when they host Skidmore at 4:30 p.m.

Stephen Seymour led the attack for Middlebury, while Jon Broome had a game-high seven points thanks to a three-goal and four-assist effort. Tim Giarrusso and Jack Rautiola each had multi-goal games as well for the Panthers, tallying three and two markers, respectively. 

Jeff Rautiola continued his strong play for Trinity, scoring two goals and adding an assist. Chase Growney was the other Bantam to register a multi-point game, as he dished out a pair of helpers.

Middlebury got off to a quick start, scoring the first six goals of the contest. Late in the second quarter, Rautiola put the Bantams on the board with just 23 seconds remaining in the first half. The Panthers would win the ensuing faceoff and Giarrusso beat Trinity netminder Makar Zaverucha just before the horn sounded to signal halftime, as Middlebury went into the break with a 7-1 advantage.

In the third quarter, Middlebury stretched its lead to eight as Seymour and Broome found the back of the net. Trinity answered by scoring three of the game's next four goals to cut the deficit to six at 10-4. Gus Ackley scored the Bantams fourth goal of the game just 17 seconds into the final quarter. The Panthers responded with a 5-0 run to close out the game and earn the conference victory.

Zaverucha made 22 saves in a losing effort for Trinity, while Nate Gaudio turned aside 10 shots to earn his sixth victory of 2014.

Will Benjamin had a solid game for Trinity, winning 13-21 face-offs and scooping a game-high five groundballs. Harrison Goodkind was all over the field for the Panthers, causing two turnovers, and grabbing a pair of groundballs.
