The 10th-ranked Middlebury men's tennis team eased past host Georgia Perimeter by an 8-1 score Wednesday afternoon in Dunwoody. Following a day off from competition Thursday, the Panthers continue their spring trip in Georgia with a Friday matchup in Atlanta against ninth-ranked Kenyon at 2:00 p.m.

During doubles play, Middlebury (6-1) claimed all three points in a trio of tightly-contested matches. In the top flight, 24th-ranked Alex Johnston and Andrew Lebovitz battled Juan Cruz Di Paola Martinez and Celestin Nkoueleue and gained the point by the slimmest of margins 9-8 (7-5). In the second match, the nation's top-ranked duo of Brantner Jones and Palmer Campbell edged Sam Slade and Chris Clark by an 8-6 tally.

In the third flight, the Panther duo of Ari Smolyar and Peter Heidrich completed the Middlebury sweep with an 8-3 victory over Patrick Hackling and Ryan Duncan.  

The Jaguars, ranked sixth in the latest ITA junior college national poll, lost their first match of the spring (6-1). The hosts grabbed their lone point of the match in the top singles slot. Cruz Di Paola Martinez defeated Johnston by scores of 6-4, 6-3. Middlebury secured the other five singles matches with straight-set wins. Campbell, ranked 18th, defeated Nkoueleue at #2 by scores of 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, while Jones downed Slade by scores of 6-3, 6-4.

Courtney Mountifield, Smolyar and Jackson Frons surrendered a total of six games during their victories. Mountifield took down Clark at #4 (6-2, 6-2), Smolyar defeated Hackling at #5 (6-1, 6-1) and Frons blanked Duncan in the sixth spot (6-0, 6-0).
