Women's DMR All-American Performance Highlights Day One of NCAA Indoors

The Middlebury women's indoor DMR team earned All-American honors for the fifth-straight year during the final event of day one of the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships. The two-day event is hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University in the Bob Devaney Sports Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska.

2014 NCAA Women's DMR teamThe team of Alison Maxwell, Jackie Kearney, Alexandra Morris and Erzie Nagy raced to the line with a seventh-place finish in a time of 11:44.95. In addition to Friday's result, a women's DMR team representing Middlebury won the national title in both 2011 and 2012. The Panthers were also runners-up a year ago and recorded a seventh-place showing back in 2010. On Friday, Wisconsin-Oshkosh repeated as national champions in the event with a time of 11:39.94 as the top-seven places were separated by just over five seconds.
 
In preliminary action on Friday, Middlebury's Wilder Schaaf finished fourth in his respective heat of the mile run with a time of 4:13.36. The top-three finishers from each heat automatically advanced to the final and the top respective times also moved on. Entering the event with the nation's 12th-best time, Schaaf crossed the finish line with the eighth-quickest time.
 
Morris also competed as an individual on Friday afternoon, but wasn't able to qualify for Saturday's final in the 400m dash with a preliminary time of 58.36.
 
The final day of competition is scheduled to begin Saturday at 11:00 a.m. EDT.
