Schulman's Goal Propels Field Hockey Over Trinity

Box Score

Pam Schulman knocked home the game's only goal in the 43rd minute to lead visiting and third-ranked Middlebury to a 1-0 victory Saturday over 17th-ranked Trinity on Sheppard Field. The Panthers (10-1, 6-1) remain on the road for a 1:00 p.m. NESCAC game Sunday at Hamilton, while Trinity (7-3, 4-2) hosts Tufts on the same day.

A scoreless first half saw Trinity take three shots and Middlebury record just one.

Following the halftime break, Schulman scored from Shannon Hutteman at the 42:56 mark. Trinity managed a penalty corner with 10 seconds on the clock, and Sophie Doering got a shot on Middlebury goalie Emily Knapp. The Panther senior turned the game-tying attempt away for her third save in the game to preserve the shutout, her second-straight clean sheet in as many starts. Sophie Fitzpatrick totaled five saves in the cage for Trinity.

The Bantams held a slight 7-6 edge in shots and a 10-6 advantage in penalty corners.
