The Middlebury College baseball team dropped their opening NESCAC West series to Williams, 2-1. The three-game set was played at the end of each school's spring break trip to Arizona. The Panthers took game one of the series by a score of 9-3 on Friday. The Ephs battled back on Saturday, taking 5-2 and 11-2 decisions to take the series.
In game one, Eric Truss threw a nine-inning complete game as the Panthers picked up the 9-3 win. Middlebury held a 4-0 lead after two innings and added some late insurance on its way to the win. Alex Kelly went 3-5 with a double, while Thomas Driscoll was 2-5 with a double, two runs and two RBI. Andrew Lind was 2-4 with a homer, two runs scored and two driven in.
In game one of a doubleheader, Williams plated three runs in the sixth to break up a 3-3 game on its way to a 5-2 victory in a seven-inning game. Kelly and Michael Morris both went 2-4 in the contest.
The Ephs scored five times in the first inning of game two of the twinbill, on their way to the 11-2 win. Driscoll went 3-5 in the game with a double, while Tom Rafferty also hit a two-bagger.
