Chris Brown scored the game-winner 5:01 into the third period to lift Middlebury to a 5-3 win over Colby in Kenyon Arena. Middlebury held a 38-21 shots advantage in the game as Liam Moorfield-Yee made 18 saves in goal to pick up his first career win. The Panthers (6-7-2, 5-2-2) return to action on Saturday when they host Bowdoin at 4:00 p.m., while Colby (3-12-1, 1-9-1) visits Williams.

Colby took a 1-0 lead 5:43 into the first period with the third of the year for Robert McCormick. Spike Smigelski's original shot from the right wing was saved by Moorfield-Yee before McCormick banged the puck into the open net. The Mules made it a 2-0 game at 15:44 when Tyler Lingel skated in from the left side and wristed a shot into the top right corner of the net for his third of the season.

Middlebury got on track in the second period, scoring three straight for a 3-1 lead. Brown won a face-off to Chris Steele, who snapped home a shot from the top of the zone for his third of the season. Evan Neugold netted his fifth of the year at 9:11, scoring from the right side with a wrister after a feed from Matt Silcoff. Derek Pimental gave the Panthers their first lead of the game when he tipped home a shot from Robbie Donahoe for a power play tally at 10:36. Colby answered just 2:10 later, tying the game at 3-3 on the second of the season from Smigelski.

The third period was scoreless until Brown put home a rebound at the 5:01 mark, after a shot from Max Greenwald was saved. The Mules threatened late, with Silcoff clearing a puck away from the crease with 6:30 remaining after a shot from Smigelski had been denied. The Mules had an unsuccessful power play at the 16:26 mark, and were unable to generate much offense with Jordan Nathan (33 saves) pulled for 1:05. The Panthers sealed the game with seven seconds remaining as Derek Pimental scored his fourth of the year into an empty net.
