Panther Profile - John Halverson

John Halverson pictured during a contest against Hamilton last winter.
John Halverson, a sophomore on the Middlebury men's ice hockey team, spent the first six years of his life in and out of hospitals battling intestinal malrotation, a birth condition in which a baby's intestines do not rotate or position correctly in the abdomen during development. Overcoming this adversity instilled a key lesson: never take a moment in life, positive or negative, for granted.

Halverson also details his path to taking the ice in Chip Kenyon '85 Arena, from winning a state championship during his senior year of high school in Minnesota, to the special bonds he has formed with his teammates at Middlebury.

The Panther Profile series is a monthly feature that shares the stories, achievements and activities of Middlebury student-athletes beyond their sports. Each installment was filmed, edited and produced by George Madison, a senior member of the Middlebury men's cross country and track and field teams.
