Women's DMR Team Wins NCAA Title

The Middlebury College women's distance medley relay (DMR) took home its second straight NCAA title competing at the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships hosted by Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.

The team, comprised of seniors Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.) and Rebecca Fanning (Ipswich, Mass.) and juniors Juliet Ryan-Davis (Newton, Mass.) and Addie Tousley (Kensington, Md.), recorded a time of 11:37.35 to set a new Middlebury standard. Both Cramer and Ryan-Davis returned from last year's NCAA Champion team, while Fanning and Tousley earn their first NCAA title.

The men's DMR finished fourth overall in a time of 10:01.38 to earn All-American status. Making up the team were senior Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.), juniors Jack Davies (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and Patrick Hebble (Sudbury, Mass.), and sophomore Peter Hetzler (Rumson, N.J.).

On Saturday, two more athletes earned All-American honors as Cramer competed in the mile and Schmidt in the 5,000. Cramer finished the race fourth overall, coming in with a time of 4:55.83. She was leading the race with 350 meters to go, but got tangled up and went down. Cramer quickly got up and found herself in ninth place before battling back for the fourth place finish.

In the 5,000, Schmidt ended the race sixth overall in 14:25.55.
