Field Hockey Advances To NESCAC Semi's

Middlebury earned a 7-0 win over Connecticut College (7-8) in a NESCAC Quarterfinal game played on Kohn Field. The Panthers (15-0) will host Amherst at 11:00 a.m. next Saturday, while Tufts meets Bowdoin at 1:30. The winners will meet for the NESCAC Championship at noon on Sunday. Top-ranked Middlebury has now blanked its last eight opponents, not allowing a goal since a September 29th game at Wesleyan (575:17).

Middlebury took a 1-0 lead just 55 seconds in when Lauren Greer carried the ball 40 yards, dodging several defenders before giving her team a 1-0 lead. Anna Kenyon made it a 2-0 game at 10:58, tipping in a pass from Katherine Theiss. Less than a minute later, Greer scored with a deflected shot high into the cage. Greer struck again on a penalty corner at the 20:28 mark, scoring after a pass from Catherine Fowler.

Greer earned her fourth of the game 5:19 into the second half on a penalty corner. Fowler scored the game's final two goals unassisted to give the Panthers the 7-0 victory.

Middlebury finished with a 32-4 advantage in shots, leading 14-2 in penalty corners. Madeline Brooks made three saves in goal to earn the shutout, while Becca Napolitano (10 saves) and Jeannette Hoets (5 saves) each played a half for the Camels.
