Box Score Middlebury clinched the top seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament with a 12-0 win over Bates (4-9, 1-8) on Kohn Field. The Panthers (13-0, 9-0) wrap-up their regular season at Williams on Wednesday, before hosting a NESCAC Quarterfinal game on October 27th. If victorious, they will host the NESCAC semifinals and championship on November 3rd and 4th. Middlebury has now shutout its last six opponents, not allowing a goal since a September 29th game at Wesleyan (435:17).
Middlebury opened the scoring with a blast from the top of the circle by Catherine Fowler 2:25 into the contest. Lauren Greer scored with a high shot into the cage on a penalty corner at 3:02, while Anna Kenyon scored the first of her two straight goals at the 3:45 mark, deflecting in a pass from Charlotte Gardiner.
Kenyon's second tally came off a deflection on a feed from Fowler at 20:31, before Greer scored two straight to make it a 6-0 game at the 24:27 mark. The two goals pushed Greer's career total to 99 in 69 games played.
Alyssa DiMaio converted a pass from Clara St. Germain to make it a 7-0 game at the intermission. The Panthers added five second half goals, including a pair from Katherine Theiss and Chrissy Ritter to pick up the victory.
Madeline Brooks (49:55, 2 saves) and Emily Knapp (20:05, 1 save) both saw action in net for the Panthers, as did Becca Otley (24:58, 5 GA, 4 saves) and Katie Knox (46:02, 7 GA, 6 saves) for the Bobcats.
