Middlebury's Ryan Sharry became the 16th player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point plateau as the top-ranked Panthers returned from the holiday break with an 83-54 win over Curry at the Salem State Holiday Classic. The Panthers return to action on Friday when they battle the host school at 7:00 p.m. Middlebury shot .571 from the floor in the game, outscoring its opponents 23-6 from the charity stripe.
With his 22 points in the game, Sharry is now the only player in school history to score over 1,000 points (1,004), pull down over 600 rebounds and block over 100 shots (145). He is now fifth all-time at the school with his 672 boards.
Leading 36-21 at the half, Middlebury ran away with the game in the second session, cruising to the victory. All five starters were in double-figures for the Panthers, led by Sharry's 22 points on 8-11 shooting, while grabbing 10 boards. Peter Lynch made all six shots he took, going 6-6 from the floor (8 rebounds), while Jake Wolfin, Dean Brierley and Joey Kizel each scored 10 points.
