Box Score The second-ranked Panther men's basketball team moved to 5-0 on the season with a 107-51 drubbing at Southern Vermont. Middlebury returns to action on December 6th when they host Johnson & Wales.
In the first five minutes Middlebury ran out to a nine point advantage, and never allowed Southern Vermont to lead in the game. SVC cut the gap to 10 with eight minutes remaining in the first half, but Middlebury outscored SVC 23-9 in the final minutes of the half to take a 48-24 lead at the break.
It was all Middlebury in the second half, as the Panthers outscored SVC 59-27 to run away with the game.
Dean Brierley led Middlebury with 20 points (7 of 9) as teammate Peter Lynch chipped in 19 (7 of 9). Also, in double figures was Hunter Merryman with 10 points and eight boards. James Jensen scored nine points with seven boards, while Jake Wolfin earned six assists.
Robert McQueen had 14 points and eight rebounds before he fouled out with 12 minutes left in the game. SVC leading scorer Taeshon Johnson who entered Tuesday's game averaging 26 points per game was held to eight by the Panther defense.
