Women's Hockey Tops Plattsburgh

The Panther women's hockey picked up a 4-1 win at Plattsburgh in the third-place game of the Panther/Cardinal Classic. The third-ranked Panthers move to 3-0-1 on the season, while the fourth-ranked Cardinals fell to 5-2-1.

Plattsburgh took a 1-0 lead 8:13 into the first period on an unassisted tally from Ashton Hogan, her third goal of the season. Middlebury tied the game at the 6:19 mark with the third of the year for Madeline Joyce with an assist from Jennifer Krakower. The Panthers scored the eventual game-winner late in the period on the power play, when Maggie Woodward netted her first of the season.

Woodward scored her second of the game just 3:56 into the second period, with Krakower earning her second helper of the game along with Grace Waters. The game remained at 3-1 until midway through the third when Waters netted her first of the year, this one on the power play at the 11:56 mark.

Middlebury held a slim 28-25 shots advantage in the game, with Annabelle Jones earning 24 saves. Kelsey Neumann made 11 stops in 25 minutes for the Cardinals, while Sydney Aveson earned 13 saves.
