Box Score Middlebury scored three first half goals in a 5:19 span on its way to a 6-1 win over Babson (7-7) in a non-conference game on Kohn Field. The Panthers (8-2) return to action on Tuesday night when they host Keene State at 6:30.
Babson keeper Jess Pashos made a big save early on, stopping Middlebury's Lauren Greer on a breakaway. The Beavers used the momentum and took a 1-0 lead at the 6:17 mark when Kelly Walsh converted a crossing pass from Morgan Lockwood.
Middlebury tied the game at 8:55 when Margaret Souther scored her first of the year on a rebound following a penalty corner. Souther struck again at the 26:42 mark, receiving a crossing pass from Catherine Fowler before finding the back of the cage.
Hannah Clarke earned a pair of goals in a 2:13 span to give Middlebury a 4-1 lead at the intermission. The first goal came on a rebound as Charlotte Gardiner quickly found Clarke for the tally. Greer's shot from the top of the circle was finished off by Clarke at the 32:01 mark, giving her seven goals in '11.
Greer made it a 5-1 game just 3:35 into the second half, scoring unassisted with a reverse flick. The team's leading scorer notched her second of the contest at 47:11, working a give-and-go with Gardner. Greer has now figured in 25 of Middlebury's last 30 goals dating back to a September 24th game at Bowdoin.
Becca Shaw earned the win with two saves in 53:39, while Madeline Brooks also made a pair of stops. Jess Pashos (39 MP) and Kayla Florence (31 MP) each allowed three goals and made eight saves for Babson.
