Track Teams In Action At Open N.E.'s

The Panther track and field teams took part in the Open New England Championships hosted by Northeastern over the weekend. Teams from Division I, II and III competed, with the Middlebury women placing 31st among 39 scoring teams, while the men were 21st with 38 teams scoring.

First-year racer John Davies (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) became the school's first Open N.E. Champion since '06, winning the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 9:10.89. Also earning All-N.E. honors for the men were junior Adam Dede (West Chester, Ohio) in the pole vault (14'2.75") and sophomore Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.) in the 5000 (14:47.34).

The women were paced by sophomore Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.), who earned a sixth place finish in the 1500 with a time of 4:31.30. Junior Amanda Lee (Lincoln, Neb.) was also All-N.E., earning the honor with a seventh place (11:05.17) finish in the 3,000 steeplechase.
