Middlebury had little trouble with Potsdam as the Panthers earned an 8-0 win over the Bears (8-11-1) in the first-ever meeting between the schools. Seventh-ranked Middlebury (14-5-2) held a 52-8 shots advantage in the game, as Grace Waters earned a hat-trick.
Middlebury took a 1-0 lead with a power play goal just 2:47 into the game. After a shot from Anna McNally was saved, Waters jumped on the rebound and scored from the slot for her third of the season. McNally scored her team-leading 14th of the year at the 11:34 mark, scoring with a quick wrister from just outside the crease. The period ended with Middlebury leading 2-0, holding a 17-2 shots advantage.
Lauren Greer made it a 4-0 game 3:08 into the second period, before Nora Bergman one-timed a pass from Heather McCormack for a five-on-three goal at the 15:41 mark. Maggie Woodward closed out the scoring with her eighth of the year at 17:30.
After entering the game with two goals on the year, Waters scored her second of the game at 1:00, earning the hat-trick with a five-on-three power play goal at the 15-minute mark of the third. Greer notched her second of the night 26 seconds later to make it an 8-0 final. Bergman ended the night with a goal and three assists, McNally scored once with two helpers, while McCormack had a pair of assists.
