Women's Hockey Edges Trinity

Middlebury extended its winning streak to five games as the Panthers avenged an earlier season loss with a 2-1 win over Trinity (14-2-2, 7-2-2) in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers (11-4-1, 8-2-1) hold an 19-2-2 all-time series advantage over the Bantams as they return to action on Sunday when they host Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m.

Middlebury opened the scoring just 1:22 into the game when Heather McCormack scored her second goal of the season on a rebound. Trinity tied the game 3:02 into the second period, when Celia Colman's shot hit the glove of Middlebury netminder Lani Wright before finding the back of the net. The Panthers scored the eventual game-winner on the power play at the 6:60 mark of the second period. Heather Marrison converted a feed from Nora Bergman from the high slot, as Trinity goaltender Isabel Iwachiw got a piece of the shot, but not enough.

Neither team found the back of the net in the third period, leaving the Panthers with the 2-1 win. Wright ended the night with 28 saves, Iwachiw made 14, as the Panthers held a 29-16 shots advantage.
