Men's Basketball Cruises Past Conn. College

Middlebury earned its fifth straight win with a 74-55 triumph against Connecticut College in NESCAC men's basketball action played at Luce Fieldhouse Friday night. The Panthers, who are ranked #10 in the latest D3Hoops.com national poll, improve to 15-1 and 3-0 in the NESCAC. The Camels are 7-10 overall and 0-3 in conference action.

Sophomore Ryan Sharry (Braintree, Mass.) poured in a game-high 26 points with eight rebounds to lead the Panthers to the win. Sharry was 11-for-17 from the field and a perfect 3-3 from long distance. Jamal Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in with 13 points and six rebounds for the Panthers.

Nolan Thompson (Akron, Ohio) netted 11 points for Middlebury and Tim Edwards (Greenwich, Conn.) dished out nine assists.

Connecticut College senior Shavar Bernier (Dover, N.H.) netted a team-high 24 points in the contest, converting 4-of-5 three-point attempts and all six of his shots on the foul line.

Dean Lampe (Hamilton, Mass.) reached double figures with 10 points and four rebounds for the hosts. Demetrius Porter (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished with nine points, eight rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots.

Sharry scored 16 of his 26 points in the opening half, vaulting the Panthers out to a 38-26 lead at the break. Middlebury opened the second stanza with a furious 12-to-2 run, building a 50-28 lead with a field goal from Ryan Wholey (Pelham, N.H.) at the 14:49 mark.

The Panthers continued to pull away en route to the 74-55 victory.
