The Panther men's tennis team boasted some impressive results as they hosted their annual invitational tournament. Senior Andrew Thomson (W. Bloomfield, Mich.) captured the flight "A" singles bracket, sophomore Derrick Angle (Troy, N.Y.) won flight "B", while rookie Spencer Lunghino (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) captured the "C" flight. In doubles play, Lunghino and sophomore David Farah (Flint, Mich.) were victors in the "B".

Thomson picked up where he left off last season, winning the tournament's top flight. After a pair of straight-set wins, the senior was a 6-2, 4-6, (10-5) winner in the semifinals before earning a 6-3, 5-7, (10-3) win in the finals. Angle survived a 6-7 (4), 6-4, (10-8) semifinal match before picking up a 6-0, 6-3 win in the finals of the "B" flight.

The Panthers dominated the "C", sending four players to the semifinal round. Sophomore Eric Vehovec (Toronto, Ont.) defeated Farah 6-4, 6-0 in one semifinal, while Lunghino topped senior Chris Mason (Owings Mills, Md.) in the other contest. Lunghino came away with a 6-2, 6-4 win in the finals over Vehovec. The "D" flight also saw the Panthers with players rising to the top, as three of four slots were owned by Middlebury players. First-year player William Oberrender (Edina, Minn.) topped junior Mike Malhame (Douglaston, N.Y.) 7-6 (3), 6-4, before falling 6-2, 5-7, (10-3) in the finals. Rookie Johann Riefkohl (Munich, Germany) also advanced to the semi's, falling 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles play, Thomson and senior Andrew Lee (Eden Prairie, Minn.) along with Vehovec and senior Eliot Jia (Mount Desert, Maine) all advanced to the semifinal round before being eliminated in the "A" fight. The "B" flight saw Lunghino/Farah earn an 8-6 win in the finals.
