The Middlebury men's hockey team dropped a 3-1 game to #3 Plattsburgh at Norwich in the PrimeLink Great Northern Shootout. The ninth-ranked Panthers will take on the loser of the Norwich/Wisconsin-Stout game on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Norwich.
With the score knotted at 1-1, Dan Sliasis scored a power play goal late in the second period to put Plattsburgh ahead for good, 2-1. Patrick Jobb added an insurance goal 7:44 into the third period.
Middlebury's Chris Steele made it 1-0 just 1:39 into the game with the Panthers on the power play, his first goal of the season. Eric Satim tied it later in the first period with his team-leading sixth goal. The Panthers had a goal disallowed in the second period because the officials deemed the puck went into the goal via a high stick, nullifying a possible 2-1 lead for Middlebury.
Josh Leis made 19 saves in the Plattsburgh net while John Yanchek stopped 17 shots for Middlebury. The teams were even in shots on goal, 20-20.
