Women's Lacrosse Headed To NCAA Regional Final

Middlebury outscored Gettysburg 8-2 in the second half on its way to a 14-5 win in an NCAA Regional match-up at Hamilton. The Panthers will take on the host school in the regional final on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with a trip to the final four on the line. The Middlebury defense was impressive, holding the Gettysburg 15.2 goals/game offense to just five on the afternoon.

Lindsay McBride came off the bench to score four goals and add one assist to help boost the Panther offense, while Katherine Entwisle scored three goals for Middlebury (12-4 overall). Mimi Schatz and Chase Delano each scored two goals and added two assists. Sally Ryan scored two goals with an assist, while collecting three draw controls. Reid Berrien posted a game-high four draw controls, while Taryn Petrelli scooped up three ground balls, collected two draw controls and caused two turnovers. Blair Bowie made four of her five saves in the first half and picked up a total of five ground balls.

Krissy Browning scored two goals for Gettysburg (17-4 overall), while Katie Ceglarski registered two assists and two draw controls. Callie Gates scored a goal, while Kristen Krammer '10 made eight saves.

Middlebury opened the scoring with two consecutive goals early in the first half. Schatz scored exactly three minutes into the game on Ryan's assist. McBride found the back of the net just 1:21 later with an unassisted goal.

Gettysburg responded with a pair of goals of its own. Browning scored off a Ceglarski assist with 22:42 remaining in the first half, followed by an unassisted goal by Moore with 15:33 left.

The Panthers answered with four straight goals for a 6-2 lead. Hilary Walker started the rally on a goal with 12:58 to play in the half. Ryan finished it on a goal with 1:39 left.

The Bullets made it 6-3 with just 52 seconds remaining in the half when Hollis Stahl finished off a Ceglarski assist. Gettysburg cut its deficit to two on a goal by Browning to open the second half, but the Bullets did not come any closer. Middlebury scored the next eight goals to put the game away.
