Baseball Tops St. Michael's

Middlebury won its second straight game as they topped in-state foe Saint Michael's 9-5. Mark Shimrock singled, doubled, tripled, and scored two runs to lead the Panthers. Nick Lefeber tripled and singled twice, driving in two runs, while John Lanahan singled twice, scored twice, and tallied two RBIs. Christian Hansen pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win.

For Saint Michael's, John Kunkel and Tim Pilczak each doubled, singled, scored a run and drove in a run.

Saint Michael's led 4-0 through three innings before Middlebury scored five runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good. The Panthers increased their lead to 6-4 in the sixth inning, and 9-4 in the top of the seventh inning. The Purple Knights scored once in the bottom of the seventh inning, and brought the tying runner to the plate that inning, but Matt Lowes struck out McLaughlin to preserve the four-run margin for Middlebury.
