Middlebury Cruises Past Green Mountain

Middlebury had little trouble with Green Mountain as they earned 102-47 win over the Eagles. The Panthers have now won seven straight as they enter NESCAC play this weekend, when they host Colby and Bowdoin. This also marks the third 100-point game of the season for the Panthers, who lead the NESCAC in scoring.

Middlebury jumped out to a 17-2 lead with 13:59 remaining behind a three from Matt Westman. Green Mountain made a brief run, sparked by a pair of hoops from Aaron Brooks to cut the lead to 20-9. The Panthers answered and slowly increased their lead, taking a 49-20 advantage into the halftime break.

Middlebury ran away in the second half, opening the session on a 10-0 run to take a 60-20 lead with 17:35 left to play. The lead grew to as many as 57 before the Panthers picked up the 102-47 win.

Five Middlebury players scored in double figures, led by Matt Westman with 14, Andrew Harris with 11 and Evan Thompson with 11. Ben Rudin and Aaron Smith added 10 points apiece in the victory, while Tim Edwards had nine rebounds and five assists.

Scott McGuinness led Green Mountain with 10, Benjamin Stimson grabbed eight boards, while Justin Lewandowski had seven points and six assists.
