Women's Lacrosse Tops Williams

Middlebury jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back as the Panthers earned an 19-11 win over Williams on Kohn Field. The Panthers wrap up their regular season at Amherst Saturday, with the winner drawing a first round bye and the right to host the NESCAC semifinals and final on May 6th and 7th. The loser will host a first-round game on Sunday at noon. Williams ends its regular season when they host Tufts on Saturday.

Kim Walker scored the final two goals of the opening 5-0 run, that ended at the 6:37 mark when Rachel Barr put the Ephs on the board. The lead grew to 7-2 before Britt Spackman made it a 7-3 game at the half.

Middlebury scored the first two goals of the second half before Williams scored four of the next five to make it a 10-7 game with 15:12 remaining. The Panthers would net six of the next eight to gain a comfortable 16-9 lead with 3:15 left to play. The teams exchanged two goals apiece in the last 3:02 to make it an 19-11 final.

Claire Edelen led Middlebury with four goals, while Alison Perencevich added three. Walker, Schuyler Winstead, Michele Bergofsky, Elizabeth Renehan and Katherine Entwisle added two goals apiece. Blaire Bowie made 10 saves in goal to earn the win.

Spackman and Barr paced the Ephs with two goals apiece, while Spackman added three assists. Meghan Dwyer made nine saves in a losing effort.
