The Middlebury College track and field teams were in action with Division I teams at Dartmouth over the weekend at an invitational meet.

First-year racer Jennifer Brenes (Lawrence, Mass.) continued her impressive spring as she had three second places finishes, qualifying for the NCAA's in the 100 hurdles. She finished with a time of 14.82 in the 100 hurdles, jumped 17'.75" in the long jump, while leaping 34'3" in the triple jump.

Finishing third with a time of 12.81 in the 100 meters was first-year racer Jen Katz (Winchester, Mass.), while junior Beth Butler (Bronxville, N.Y.) did the same in the 800 (2:16.11). Senior Whitney Creed (Farmington, Conn.) qualified for the NCAA's in the hammer throw, placing second with a toss of 153'3". Just behind her in third with a 152'11" effort was sophomore Jennifer Currie (Milton, Vt.), who also qualified.

Senior Kevin Bright (Sharon, Mass.) earned another win in the 400, this time finishing in 49.32. Sophomore Jimmy Butcher (Garden City, N.Y.) was also a winner, capturing the 5000 with a time of 14:56.91. The 4x400 relay team comprised of Bright, sophomore Patrick Swan (Horseheads, N.Y.), senior Matt Malek (Norridgewock, Maine) and first-year racer Benjamin Fowler (Bethesda, Md.) won the event with a time of 3:20.98.

Senior Steve Atkinson (Huntingdon, Que.) was Middlebury's third NCAA qualifier at the meet, earning the right in the javelin with a throw of 191'10", good for third place. Setting a new Middlebury school record in the 1500 was junior Will McDonough (Lancaster, N.H.), who finished with a time of 3:58.65.
