Middlebury Earns Tie At Trinity

The men's hockey team improved its unbeaten streak to 26 games as they escaped Trinity with a 3-3 tie. The Panthers return to action at Wesleyan on Saturday.

Mickey Gilchrist gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead at the 5:56 mark of the first period with an assist from Jamie McKenna. Trinity tied the game at 11:29 and then took a 2-1 lead at the 3:29 mark of the second period. Gilchrist and McKenna reversed roles at 7:52 to tie the game at two. The Bantams answered with 2:46 left in the period to regain the lead at 3-2.

Scott Bartlett earned the game-tying goal for Middlebury 3:44 into the third to knot the game at three. Neither team would score through the remainder of regulation and a five-minute overtime, leaving the contest in a 3-3 tie.

Doug Raeder and Ross Cherry combined to make 31 saves in goal as Middlebury out shot Trinity, 37-34.
