Field Hockey Falls To Skidmore

Skidmore handed Middlebury just its fourth loss in its last 44 games as they picked up a 3-1 win over the Panthers on Kohn Field. Middlebury entered the game ranked second, while Skidmore was 14th in the early season national poll.

Skidmore took a 1-0 lead at the 27:53 mark with a goal on a penalty corner. Emily Clark injected the ball to Alison Starrett, who stopped it before Annie Ledyard ripped a shot into the back of the cage. The lead doubled at 15:05 as Katie Weber tipped in a shot from Sarah Donahue. Middlebury cut the lead in half with 11:20 remaining in the first half, as Reid Berrien's shot deflected in off a defender. Skidmore scored the game's final goal with 10:12 remaining, as Clark scored with a quick feed from Shaila Delea after an outside shot by Weber was saved.

Meghan McGillen made 12 saves in goal for Middlebury, while Stephanie Reed made four saves for Skidmore.
