5/21/05 - The Middlebury College track & field teams sent individuals to the ECAC Championships at Springfield College over the weekend. Winning the javelin event was junior Steve Atkinson (Huntingdon, Que.), with a toss of 200'6". Placing sixth in the discus was sophomore Bobby Marcoux (Campbell Hall, N.Y.), with a 146'6" effort. Pacing the women was junior Whitney Creed (Farmington, Conn.), who finished seventh in the hammer with a toss of 150'5" meters. Senior Sarah Berkowitz (Media, Pa.) tied for fourth in the pole vault, clearing 10'.

Three Panthers have qualified for next weekend's NCAA Championships at Wartburg College in Iowa. Atkinson will compete in the javelin, as will junior Khristoph Becker (Media, Pa.). Becker will also compete in the decathlon, while junior Kevin Bright (Sharon, Mass.) will race in the 400 hurdles.
