Track Teams In Action At Dartmouth

4/23/05 - The conditions were certainly not ideal as the Middlebury College track and field teams competed at Dartmouth on Saturday.

Junior Kevin Bright (Sharon, Mass.) was Middlebury's lone winner on the day, as he captured the title in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.24. The 4x400 relay team comprised of Bright, senior Nick Digani (Northfield, Ill.) and rookies Patrick Swan (Horseheads, N.Y.) and David LaRocca (Sparta, N.J.) won their event with a time of 3:18.65. Placing second in the 4x100 relay with a time of 42.79 were Bright, Swan, junior Greg Lazerus (St. Louis, Mo.) and senior Liam Aiello (Middletown, Conn.).

 Other top finishers for the men included Aiello, who placed third in the 200 (22.92), sophomore Conor O'Neil (Friendswood, Texas) who finished second in the 800 (1:57.34) and first-year runner James Butcher (Garden City, N.Y.), with a third place finish in the 5000 (15:15.73). In field events, junior Steve Atkinson (Huntingdon, Que.) came in second in the javelin with a toss of 170'8".

Senior Melissa Thacker (Canton, N.Y.) came in second for the women in the 400 hurdles (1:06.36), rookie Sarah Wilson (Winchester, Mass.) was third in the pole vault (10'.5"), while senior Renee Courchesne (Hingham, Mass.) finished third in the discus (116'9").
