Field Hockey Blanks Keene

Middlebury out shot Keene State 19-4 on its way to a 4-0 shutout over the Owls on Kohn Field. The ninth-ranked Panthers return to action on Wednesday when they host Rensselaer at 3:30.

Nina Daugherty gave Middlebury a 1-0 lead at the 26:07 mark of the first half. The lead remained at one until just 1:43 into the second half when Daugherty struck again from close range as she lifted a shot into the cage. Claire Edelen earned assists on both of Daugherty's goals. Allison Smith made it a 3-0 game just four minutes later as she took a crossing pass from Channing Weymouth and scored from the top of the circle. Reid Berrien scored the game's final goal with 13:41 left to play, giving the Panthers a 4-0 win.

Meghan McGillen made five saves in 66 minutes of work, while Caitlin Pentifallo was not forced to make any saves in her four minutes of action for Middlebury. Sara Joyce made 17 saves in 54 minutes for Keene State, while Laura Mann made a save in the final 16 minutes of action.
