Men's Hockey Slips Past UMass.-Boston

Middlebury put 42 shots on the board, but were only able to muster up a pair of goals in a 2-1 win over UMass.-Boston. The Panthers return to action next weekend at Amherst and Hamilton.

Middlebury scored the game's first goal with just 2:19 left in the first period as Jed McDonald poked in his own rebound from the left side just outside the crease for the power play goal. Following a scoreless second period, Scott Bartlett made it a 2-0 game after he beat his defender with a quick move before snapping a shot past James Johnson at 3:47. UMass.-Boston got on the board at the 10:00 minute mark of the third period with a five-on-three power play goal. Rick Tennyson scored on a rebound with an open net on the high side after a save from Yen-I Chen. Each team had some chances to score in the game's final five minutes, but the Panthers held on for the win.

Chen ended the game with 10 saves for Middlebury, while Johnson made 40 stops.
