Middlebury's Richie Fuld scored with 1:53 left in the game to give Middlebury a 4-3 win over New England College. The goal came when Fuld hit an open net from the far side after a save on a wrap-around shot by Jed McDonald. The tally was the first of the season for the sophomore, playing in his fifth game.

Middlebury took a 1-0 lead 4:07 into the game as Darwin Hunt found the back of the net after a scramble in front. New England College tied the game at 10:40 as Jeremy Koning poked home a rebound after Ross Cherry made a save on Jeremy Koning. The Panthers came back to take a one-goal lead with 1:35 left in the period as Samuel Driver scored with a wrister from the left face-off circle.

Following a scoreless second period, the Pilgrims tied the game 2:30 into the third period with a power play goal. Nick Warriner skated in from the right side and found an open Rashaun Ewing on the doorstep for the one-time deflection to tie the game at two. Middlebury regained the lead with a power play goal of its own at 5:49 as John Sales put home a rebound from the slot after a save on a Brian Phinney blast. N.E.C. had an answer as Greg Tam snapped a shot into the top right corner from the top of the left face-off circle, setting up Fuld's game-winner.

Cherry made 27 saves in goal for Middlebury, while Scott Gray made 27 stops for New England College.
