Middlebury dropped to 1-2 in NESCAC play as they fell to Bates 86-66 at home. The Bobcats jumped out to a 19-9 lead and took a 46-28 lead into the break with a 5-0 run to end the half, shooting .514 from the floor. Bates continued the run the floor in the second half, increasing its lead to as many as 24 points. Middlebury mounted a few runs, coming within 15 at the 8:52 mark and 14 with 3:51 remaining.

Clark Read led the team with 15 points on six of 10 shooting, Adam Sinoway scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Bobby Marcoux scored 10.
