Baseball Team Ends Season At Bowdoin

The Middlebury baseball team ended its season with a pair of losses at Bowdoin, one day after being eliminated from post-season contention. The teams combined for 52 runs on 51 hits in the two games. Bowdoin picked up a 15-12 win in game one, while earning a 13-12 win in eight innings during game two.

Bowdoin jumped out to an 11-1 lead in game one, but Middlebury came back to score 11 runs in innings four through six to get back in the game. The Polar Bears plated runs in those innings as well and came away with the win. Ryan Armstrong went 3-5 with three RBI, while Bryan Lodigiani was 3-4 with three runs scored. Abe Streep was also in on the offense, going 2-4 with two runs and three RBI.

In game two, Bowdoin took a 6-5 lead after the first inning of play. Middlebury scored four runs in the seventh, sparked by a two-run double by Andrew Pavoni to take a 12-11 lead. The Polar Bears tied the game in the seventh before scoring the game-winner in the eighth after a batter was hit by a pitch. Pavoni went 2-5 with two runs scored and three RBI in the game, while David Riester was 3-5 with two runs scored.
