Baseball Team Earns Split With Trinity

Middlebury earned a split with the NESCAC East's top team as they topped Trinity 8-3 in game one before dropping game two, 3-2. The Panthers move to 11-12 overall, while Trinity goes to 26-5.

In game one, Ryan Armstrong and Jim Muhlfeld each had two-run doubles in the fourth inning to spark the Panther victory. Middlebury added three runs in the fifth to earn the 8-3 win. David Riester earned the win on the hill, throwing 5 1/3 inniings, while Chris Fraser allowed one hit in 1 2/3 innings of relief work. Joe Ramoin had a pair of hits and two RBI in the game to boost the offense. 

In the second game, Trinity scratched across two in the second and one in the third for a 3-0 lead. Middlebury came back with two in the fifth, including an RBI single from R. Armstrong to cut the lead to 3-2. The Panthers had the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, but could not plate the tying or winning runs. R. Armstrong had two hits in the game, while Russ Budnick took the loss.
