Women's Hockey Starts Season With Big 3-0 Win At Bowdoin

11/19/04 - The top-ranked Middlebury College women's hockey got goals from three different players to take a 3-0 victory over seventh-ranked Bowdoin in both squads' season-opener on Friday in Brunswick. The Panthers will play at Colby on Saturday, while the Polar Bears will host Williams.
After an evenly-played first period, the Panthers took advantage of alate break when a Bowdoin turnover found the stick of Emily Quizon in the neutral zone with under 10 seconds left in the frame. Quizon skated in and slapped a shot that was initially saved by Bowdoin netminder Cat MacEachern, but trickled through and snuck past the goal line for a 1-0 Panther edge after one period.
After a scoreless second, Middlebury added two goals in the third frame to clinch the win. Shannon Tarrant ripped a shot from the point that found the back of the net at 8:21 of the final period before Tania Kenny poked home a goal at 18:53 to round out the scoring.
MacEachern made 16 saves for Bowdoin, while Kate Kogut made several outstanding saves and stopped all 28 shots she faced for Middlebury.
